P&L visibility

Last updated

P&L visibility is the capability homepage shoppers recognize as "margin truth across channels." Inside Marktspan, that means contribution-focused views that start at portfolio level and drill to SKU, time period, and marketplace fee components. The point is not another GMV chart—it is answering whether you earned money after commissions, fulfillment, ads, and product cost.

Waterfall-style breakdowns show how you moved from revenue to contribution. Product lenses highlight heroes and drags without forcing you to export to Excel for every standup. When COGS or fee lines are incomplete, the UI surfaces missing data honestly because a silent zero would mis-rank your assortment. Finance and ops should agree on coverage thresholds; the guide Costs and trustworthy margin and use case Establish a trustworthy margin baseline describe that handshake.

P&L connects tightly to Sales Pulse: revenue bridges explain top-line movement, while P&L explains whether that movement helped profit. Use both in the same weekly review—see Run a weekly marketplace review. Ad decisions on Bol should be checked against contribution weekly when Ad Pilot is active; ROAS alone is insufficient if COGS slipped or returns rose.

Screen-level filters and fee category maps live in the signed-in operator handbook (Get Help → Documentation), as do cost import settings. If you are diagnosing a sudden margin squeeze alongside falling sales, pair this module with Diagnose a sales decline.

European marketplace fee structures differ materially between Bol, Kaufland, and Pigu. Marktspan maps statement lines into comparable categories where possible, but your finance close process still owns reconciliation to bank payouts. Treat in-app P&L as operational truth for daily decisions and accounting modules for period close—not as a replacement for your ERP without validation.

Where to go next in the docs

Stay on this public guide for outcomes and rollout planning. For click-by-click operator procedures, sign in and open Get Help → Documentation. Evaluation teams should skim the FAQ, then Plans, billing, and getting help or Pricing before you commit production credentials.

How this maps to the product

Guide module chapters follow the six homepage capabilities, not every sidebar label. Specialized tools such as vouchers, invoicing, or ranking appear after sign-in in the operator handbook and roll up here by outcome so public docs stay readable.

Honest marketplace scope

Live seller operations emphasize Bol.com, Kaufland, and Pigu (PHH Group) today. Mirakl remains connect-first until your rollout confirms ingest for your operator. Ad Pilot applies to Bol Sponsored Products only; Pigu advertising uses Martailer separately from Ad Pilot. Retailers shown as coming soon on marketing surfaces are not described here as shipped product.
